This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.

About the Author
Carol Marinelli recently filled in a form asking for her job title. Thrilled to be able to put down her answer, she put writer. Then it asked what Carol did for relaxation and she put down the truth - writing. The third question asked for her hobbies. Well, not wanting to look obsessed she crossed the fingers on her hand and answered swimming but, given that the chlorine in the pool does terrible things to her highlights – I’m sure you can guess the real answer.

'Sheikh King Emir has agreed that he will speak with you.'

Amy looked up as Fatima, one of the servants, entered the nursery where Amy was feeding the young Princesses their dinner. 'Thank you for letting me know. What time—?'

'He is ready for you now,' Fatima interrupted, impatience evident in her voice at Amy's lack of haste, for Amy continued to feed the twins.

'They're just having their dinner…' Amy started, but didn't bother to continue—after all, what would the King know about his daughters' routines? Emir barely saw the twins and, quite simply, it was breaking Amy's heart.

What would he know about how clingy they had become lately and how fussy they were with their food? It was one of the reasons Amy had requested a meeting with him—tomorrow they were to be handed over to the Bedouins. First they would be immersed in the desert oasis and then they would be handed over to strangers for the night. It was a tradition that dated back centuries, Fatima had told her, and it was a tradition that could not be challenged.

Well, Amy would see about that!

The little girls had lost their mother when they were just two weeks old, and since his wife's death Emir had hardly seen them. It was Amy they relied on. Amy who was with them day in and day out. Amy they trusted. She would not simply hand them over to strangers without a fight on their behalf.

'I will look after the twins and give them dinner,' Fatima said. 'You need to make yourself presentable for your audience with the King.' She ran disapproving eyes over Amy's pale blue robe, which was the uniform of the Royal Nanny. It had been fresh on that morning, but now it wore the telltale signs that she had been finger-painting with Clemira and Nakia this afternoon. Surely Emir should not care about the neatness of her robe? He should expect that if the nanny was doing her job properly she would be less than immaculate in appearance. But, again, what would Emir know about the goings-on in the nursery? He hadn't been in to visit his daughters for weeks.

Amy changed into a fresh robe and retied her shoulder-length blonde hair into a neat ponytail. Then she covered her hair with a length of darker blue silk, arranging the cloth around her neck and leaving the end to trail over her shoulder. She wore no make-up but, as routinely as most women might check their lipstick, Amy checked to see that the scar low on her neck was covered by the silk. She hated how, in any conversation, eyes were often drawn to it, and more than that she hated the inevitable questions that followed.

The accident and its aftermath were something she would far rather forget than discuss.

'They are too fussy with their food,' Fatima said as Amy walked back into the nursery.

Amy suppressed a smile as Clemira pulled a face and then grabbed at the spoon Fatima was offering and threw it to the floor.

'They just need to be cajoled,' Amy explained. 'They haven't eaten this before.'

'They need to know how to behave!' Fatima said. 'There will be eyes on them when they are out in public, and tomorrow they leave to go to the desert—there they must eat only fruit, and the desert people will not be impressed by two spoiled princesses spitting out their food.' She looked Amy up and down. 'Remember to bow your head when you enter, and to keep it bowed until the King speaks. And you are to thank him for any suggestions that he makes.'

Thank him!

Amy bit down on a smart retort. It would be wasted on Fatima and, after all, she might do better to save her responses for Emir. As she turned to go, Clemira, only now realising that she was being left with Fatima, called out to Amy.

'Ummi!' her little voice wailed. 'Ummi!'

She called again and Fatima stared in horror as Clemira used the Arabic word for mother.

'Is this what she calls you?'

'She doesn't mean it,' Amy said quickly, but Fatima was standing now, the twins' dinner forgotten, fury evident on her face.

'What have you been teaching her?' Fatima accused.

'I have not been teaching her to say it,' Amy said in panic. 'I've been trying to stop her.'

She had been. Over and over she had repeated her name these past few days, but the twins had discovered a new version. Clemira must have picked it up from the stories she had heard Amy tell, and from the small gatherings they attended with other children who naturally called out to their mothers. No matter how often she was corrected, Clemira persisted with her new word.

'It's a similar sound,' Amy explained. But just as she thought she had perhaps rectified the situation, Nakia, as always, copied her sister.

'Ummi,' Nakia joined in with the tearful protest.

'Amy!' Amy corrected, but she could feel the disgust emanating from Fatima.

'If the King ever hears of this there will be trouble!' Fatima warned. 'Serious trouble.'

'I know!' Amy bit back on tears as she left the nursery. She tried to block out the cries that followed her down the long corridor as she made her way deep into the palace.

This meeting with the King was necessary, Amy told herself, as nerves started to catch up with her. Something had to be said.

Still, even if she had requested this audience, she was not relishing the prospect. Sheikh King Emir of Alzan was not exactly open to conversation—at least not since the death of Hannah. The walls were lined with paintings of previous rulers, all dark and imposing men, but since the death of Emir's wife, none was more imposing than Emir—and in a moment she must face him.

Must face him, Amy told herself as she saw the guards standing outside his door. As difficult as this conversation might be, there were things that needed to be said and she wanted to say them before she headed into the desert with the King and his daughters—for this was a discussion that must take place well away from tender ears.

Amy halted at the heavy, intricately carved doors and waited until finally the guards nodded and the doors were opened. She saw an office that reminded her of a courtroom. Emir sat at a large desk, dressed in black robes and wearing a kafeya. He took centre stage and the aides and elders sat around him. Somehow she must find the courage to state her case.

'Head down!' she was brusquely reminded by a guard.

Amy did as she was told and stepped in. She was not allowed to look at the King yet, but could feel his dark eyes drift over her as a rapid introduction was made in Arabic by his senior aide, Patel. Amy stood with her head bowed, as instructed, until finally Emir spoke.

'You have been requesting to see me for some days now, yet I am told the twins are not unwell.'

His voice was deep and rich with accent. Amy had not heard him speak in English for so very long—his visits to the nursery were always brief, and when there he spoke just a few words in Arabic to his daughters before leaving. Standing there, hearing him speak again, Amy realised with a nervous jolt how much she had missed hearing his voice.

She remembered those precious days after the twins had been born and how approachable he'd been then. Emir had been a harried king, if there was such a thing, and like any new father to twins—especially with a sick wife. He had been grateful for any suggestion she'd made to help with the tiny babies—so much so that Amy had often forgotten that he was King and they had been on first-name terms. It was hard to imagine that he had ever been so approachable now, but she held on to that image as she lifted her head and faced him, determined to reach the father he was rather than the King.

'Clemira and Nakia are fine,' Amy started. 'Well, physically they are fine…' She watched as his haughty face moved to a frown. 'I wanted to speak to you about their progress, and also about the tradition that they—'

'Tomorrow we fly out to the desert,' Emir interrupted. 'We will be there for twenty-four hours. I am sure there will be ample time then to discuss their progress.'

'But I want to speak about this well away from the twins. It might upset them to hear what I have to say.'

'They are turning one,' Emir stated. 'It's hardly as if they can understand what we are discussing.'

'They might be able to.'

Amy felt as if she were choking—could feel the scar beneath the silk around her neck inflame. For she knew how it felt to lie silent, knew how it felt to hear and not be able to respond. She knew exactly what it was like to have your life discussed around you and not be able to partake in the conversation. She simply would not let this happen to the twins. Even if there was only a slight chance that they might understand what was being said, Amy would not take that risk. Anyway, she was here for more than simply to discuss their progress.

'Fatima told me that the twins are to spend the night with the Bedouins.'

He nodded.

'I don't think that is such a good idea,' Amy went on. 'They are very clingy at the moment. They get upset if I even leave the room.'

'Which is the whole point of the separation.' Emir was unmoved. 'All royals must spend time each year with the desert people.'

'But they are so young!'

'It is the way things have long been done. It is a rule in both Alzan and Alzirz and it is not open for discussion.'

It hurt, but she had no choice but to accept that, Amy realised, for this was a land where rules and traditions were strictly followed. All she could do was make the separation as easy as possible on the twins.

'There are other things I need to speak with you about.' Amy glanced around the room—although she was unsure how many of the guards and aides spoke English, she knew that Patel did. 'It might be better if we speak in private?&#...

A beautiful romance
By Harlequin Junkie Blog
Beholden To The Throne by Carol Marinelli is a beautiful romance story about tradition versus love.

Amy Bannester was hired by the Queen Hanna as a nanny for the twin princesses before they were to be born. She was to help raise the girls not to raise them herself. But after the Queen’s death shortly after the birth of Clemira and Nakia, Amy has been the only parental figure they see. Now she must find a way to make Sheik Emir see the error of his ways.

Sheik Emir has a lot to deal with. His children’s first birthday is approaching and that means they have to go with the Bedouins into the desert. He has a lot to consider for his promise to his late wife and the promise he made to his father do not work together. He must choose and is not an easy choice.

Emir finds himself in the desert overnight waiting for the return of his girls in just the company of Amy. A woman he had not noticed until her audience with him. Now he finds an answer to his dilemma for she is the perfect person to look after his girls as a mother, a woman he wouldn’t mind making his wife and who could give him a son. But he doesn’t know that after her accident Amy heard her doctor saying she can’t have children.

The attraction between them is undeniable and they become lovers. But with his people waiting for him to marry he will not be able to keep Amy there and he must choose between the love of a woman or the predictions and demands of the elders.

Beholden to the Throne

This book was good. I didn't understand much of the inferences until I read the previous book. However, it is a stand alone book. Basically, it's about a king who lost his beloved wife after she gave birth to twin girls. The girls cannot inherit the throne and it puts his country in jeopardy because he had fallen in love with the nanny who believes she cannot have children.

Personally, I don't understand how they fell in love because they did not spend time together as a couple before he put the moves on her. He was so broken hearted when his wife died that he distanced himself from his kids and the nanny.
Overall, it's an ok book but it moves slow because they keep going over the same thing... not spending enough time with kids and infertility. It takes a lot just to pull out why she is infertile. Then it's solved harlequin style. 3.5 stars

Love Sheikh Romances
By TashNz
So I bought this because there was an excerpt in alot of books. It has capturing first chapter and the way it ends, I could not not buy it. When Emir orders everyone out of the room to berate (we assume) Annie, I was hooked. When you pick up a book by Carol Marinelli you know you're in for the best ride.

Annie is nanny to the Sheikh's twins. If you've read a lot of sheikh strories you'll know the kids have spend time in the desert. This is a bridge crossed. Annie is pretty strong willed/minded and I love how she's able to stand up to the Sheikh. Emir is so bound by honour and tradition he's pulled left and right by his upbringing, by his people, by his feelings for Annie.

If your a fan of Sheikh's, dont miss this. Also it's a fantastic addition to THE SANTINA CROWN series.

The Cove: A Novel, by Ron Rash

The New York Times bestselling author of Serena returns to Appalachia, this time at the height of World War I, with the story of a blazing but doomed love affair caught in the turmoil of a nation at war

Deep in the rugged Appalachians of North Carolina lies the cove, a dark, forbidding place where spirits and fetches wander, and even the light fears to travel. Or so the townsfolk of Mars Hill believe–just as they know that Laurel Shelton, the lonely young woman who lives within its shadows, is a witch. Alone except for her brother, Hank, newly returned from the trenches of France, she aches for her life to begin.

Then it happens–a stranger appears, carrying nothing but a beautiful silver flute and a note explaining that his name is Walter, he is mute, and is bound for New York. Laurel finds him in the woods, nearly stung to death by yellow jackets, and nurses him back to health. As the days pass, Walter slips easily into life in the cove and into Laurel's heart, bringing her the only real happiness she has ever known.

But Walter harbors a secret that could destroy everything–and danger is closer than they know. Though the war in Europe is near its end, patriotic fervor flourishes thanks to the likes of Chauncey Feith, an ambitious young army recruiter who stokes fear and outrage throughout the county. In a time of uncertainty, when fear and ignorance reign, Laurel and Walter will discover that love may not be enough to protect them.

This lyrical, heart-rending tale, as mesmerizing as its award-winning predecessor Serena, shows once again this masterful novelist at the height of his powers.

Amazon.com Review
Amazon Best Books of the Month, April 2012: Hank and Laurel Shelton live in a lonely Appalachian valley, on the same broken homestead where their parents toiled and died years before. Locals shun Laurel for her witchy birthmark, and Hank struggles to maintain the farm without a hand he lost in the Great War. When a mute stranger arrives, both (especially Laurel) allow themselves hope for a future outside the cove, away from small-town superstition and wartime fervor. But whose skull is that in the well?

In the lyrical prose that won him such acclaim with Serena, Ron Rash washes this novel's languid spaces with bucketfuls of atmospheric dread, pushing his characters into the currents of their fate with determined empathy. Murky and deliberate, The Cove solidifies Rash as master of modern Southern Gothic. --Jon Foro

Appalachian Gothic
By David J. Robertson
I'd heard author Ron Rash interviewed on the radio and "The Cove" sounded like just my cup of tea--a very strong regional novel set in a beautiful, isolated mountain hold, with lots of compelling descriptions of the natural world. And "The Cove" does have all these features in abundance. What it doesn't have is a great set of strong characters or narrative. The main characters are swiftly drawn and then seemingly frozen--there's no development during the several months of their lives that the novel covers. At least one of the characters is a caricature who would be laughable if he weren't so despicable.

Much of the novel proceeds at a very leisurely pace, building a sense of foreboding, but then, inexplicably, the author rushes to denouement. In addition, the lead-up could have produced several equally plausible conclusions--there's no "inevitability" to the story line--so I felt a bit manipulated when Rash chose the ending that he did.

And, despite his oftentimes exquisite descriptions, author Rash would do well to banish "muscadine" and "gloaming" from his vocabulary for the remainder of his writing career.

This novel would have made a good short story.

Another spell-binding tale from a master wordsmith.
By david n.
As usual, Ron Rash's writing makes me not want to put the book down to find out what "happens next". He captures so well, "a sense of place...and time", with this story about an area in the rural NC mountains near the end of the First World War. Sad, believable...and dark with a tragic ending. This is the second Rash book I've read (the first was a collection of short stories, "Something Rich and Strange", that I would highly recommend) and I look forward to reading more of his work. I've just started "Serena"....and it grabbed my attention in the first chapter! Without question, Ron Rash is a great storyteller!

The Cove
By Mari
This was a very well told story. I enjoyed learning some things about the WW 1 time period. There was a lot of information about some of the superstitious beliefs of the time and area the story is set in. There was some implied sexual activity but no graphic descriptions. I would rather have imagined a different ending to the story but the author wrote a realistic ending. I would have liked to learn more about the characters and found myself thinking about them often in the days after I finished reading the book. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good story.

Practical Body MRI: Protocols, Applications and Image Interpretation demystifies MRI examinations of the abdomen and pelvis, giving the essential knowledge required by radiologists in order to develop and select appropriate protocols, assess scan quality and interpret imaging studies. Each chapter describes why each sequence is performed, what to look for, and how the important findings from each sequence lead to a unique diagnosis. Numerous protocols are included, from the more common, such as liver and renal MRI, to more tailored examinations such as rectal and placental MRI. All protocols are richly illustrated with images of body MR pathology. A separate chapter discusses MRA/MRV and an introductory chapter gives a brief, practical introduction to MRI physics and receiver coils. The authors' expertise and practical, concise explanations of both protocols and image interpretation makes this an essential resource for residents, fellows and experienced radiologists using body MRI for the first time.

"You!"

Kathryn had pulled her hood more closely around her face and turned to leave the bridge. What she ran into almost knocked the breath out of her. Two strong hands gripped her shoulders to steady her. When she looked up at the man towering over her, she spoke out of shock. It was him. Lord Dalton was here, and she almost said his name. She would have known him anywhere, even after nine years. He wasn't supposed to arrive until tomorrow. She was prepared for tomorrow, not for this.

"I beg your pardon?" he said, as he searched for her eyes in the shadows of her hood. "What did you say?"

"I…urn…you…you frightened me." She was still shaky, though she knew complete safety in his grip.

"Steady there, waif. You have been too reflective this night. With your head in the heavens, you did not see me." He was smiling down at her, and she quickly pulled her hood even closer. Could it be possible he was even more handsome?

She must keep her wits about her. She must play the part. "Who are you?"

"Ah, I see it is to be direct interrogation from the start," he replied. "As a military man I recognize your tactics." His voice was deeper than she remembered, but she could not forget the playfulness always near the surface of his words.

Her voice had a quiet calm, and she followed her instinct to respond in playfulness. He always had such a wonderful sense of humor. Who would know? "Interrogation? With one question? Whose military were you a part of?"

He laughed out loud. "Touche, madam!"

"Could you please let me go? I am quite recovered." Why was he wandering around Trotton in the middle of the night? For that matter, why was he here a day early? And why hadn't he gone to the Manor? "What reason makes you wander about in the night?"

"I suspect my reason to be similar to yours," he said, grinning in the moonlight. "I could not sleep and decided the evening air might do the trick. As to my identity, my name is Dalton and I am presently staying at the inn in Midhurst."

Kathryn could feel the tears welling in her eyes; memories crashed in on her like the sea on the shore. She talked to him as if she did not know him. But she did know him—he was the only man she had ever loved. And she had left him…a gullible girl importuned by a dashing rogue. It had ruined her life. Now she was being touched by her past in a tangible way.

She could not turn back the hands of time, but could she make it stand still for this night?

"Am I not to be granted the same privilege?" he asked.

His hair was a little longer now; it hung over his collar. It suited him.

What was she doing? She could not risk all she had worked for over the past four months just because his strength and magnetism drew her in.

"Wait." The compelling but gentle hand still gripped her arms, holding her back. "You must not be afraid, lass, but I cannot let you go into the night alone. Please allow me to escort you to your home."

She kept her head down. She did not know if he would recognize her, but it was much more likely tonight, without her normal disguise, and that would ruin everything. He was getting a little too close.

"What are you about, Mr. Dalton? Let me go at once." She thought her deliberate ruse of dropping his title might be the only way she would have of throwing him off the scent, should he suspect. She tugged at the hand still gently holding her arm. "I am familiar with the landscape and I need no escort."

He scolded her seriously. "As you have proof before you, danger can lurk without your knowledge. I shall not let familiarity with the area sway me to leave a woman alone at midnight."

Kathryn did not struggle; she knew it would be futile. She only needed to await an opportunity to elude his grasp. But even now, she remembered the strength in those arms. They had once kept her close to his side when he had walked with her. They had once kept his famous horses in check while they drove to Richmond Park. And they had often held her safe while dancing to the strains of a waltz in a crowded ballroom.

She always thought him the handsomest man she had ever seen. She spent many a night, in her younger days, reliving the feeling of being in those arms during a waltz. But she was whisked from Town all too soon and tried to put that time behind her. And she had succeeded, until now.

Had she hurt him? It must have hurt him, even if he had not cared for her as much as she had cared for him. She had fallen under the spell of a well-known rake and believed his impassioned protestations of love. He was older and flattered her, and he made her elope with him.

No, to own the truth, she had agreed to that on her own.

She was too young to realize that the steady and truest love, Lord Dalton's love, was the only one worth having. And the price for that lesson was the loss of her reputation, her father's affections and God's presence in her life.

She stood thus, all the while knowing that the longer she stayed in close proximity to him, the more of a chance she took. But her feet seemed rooted to the spot. When told that he was coming to Dinsmore Manor, she had been shocked. In all of England, he was coming to the one spot she thought safe. And she remembered holding her breath, waiting, listening for the words with his wife, but they had not materialized. Now she did not know which was worse.

"Who are you?" he whispered. "Shall I awaken in the morning and this will all have been a dream? Only an illusion of my imagination destined to disappear?"

Tomorrow she would disappear just as he predicted, and he would see her no more. She would again don the disguise created to hide her true identity from the world, to protect her livelihood. He would never suspect that she was Lady Kathryn, the daughter of the Marquis de Montclaire, the young girl he had courted nine years ago in London.

She must not think about that. As long as her hood covered her face, could she not enjoy herself? Just for a few minutes.

"You make too much of a name, sir." She was still quiet and poised, but a little mischievous, as well. "Unlike you, I belong here. We are not destined to know each other, so there is no need for an introduction."

"It is as I suspected, then," he said, his voice deep and low. "You are an enchanted fairy. You know our future before it happens and predict pain for me if I am not to know you."

Despite the mesmerizing voice and the danger she feared, Kathryn did not falter. "I am no fairy. I only speak the truth."

"I know it cannot be, but…am I acquainted with you?" His words startled her. He must not learn her secret. He continued, "I do not believe in the bewitching tales of the Weald. You are flesh and blood and I am real. Where is the impediment to our meeting again?"

Kathryn soothed him with her voice. "Sir, it is after midnight in a moonlit glade. Everything will change with the daylight, as it always does. I will ask you again to please release me." She knew if she had not known who he was, she would have been terrified. She must act rationally, whether silly banter was involved or not!

"I fear once I release you, you will fly." He lifted her chin with one finger, but she did not look at him. His grip on her arm stayed any movement she intended. "I will not let you go under the threat of reality. Whether I escort you to your home or not, I demand an assurance—a token, if you will, that I have not dreamed this entire night."

"I have no such token," she said quietly, all too aware of what gentlemen usually wanted as a forfeit. At the same time, she knew he would never harm her.

"Since I have no scissors for a lock of your hair, I must exact my talisman from what is available to me." He lifted her hand to his lips for a gentle kiss. She remembered how amazing she felt the first time he had done so, even though nine years had passed. Her heart once again skipped a beat.

She made her body relax. The tension eased and they stood alone and silent, as she planned. "You now have your talisman. If you free me, I will not run away, but you must keep your distance."

She waited and he reluctantly released his grip on her, a reminder of the haven she had once known and had thrown away.

"I cannot remain, Mr. Dalton. I have already been here awhile."

"You promised you would not leave if I let go of your arm."

"So I did. However, my military training tells me I must say anything to obtain my freedom from an unknown assailant."

He chuckled again. "I think you know I will not harm you. Otherwise, you would have run the instant you were free."

"For some reason, I believe all thatchgallows say that to women who are alone in the middle of the night."

"Your instincts are sound. May I point out, however, that was I planning to pillage and plunder, I surely would have done so by now."

"Yes, but your army has already been found wanting once this night. And perhaps I should have warned you from the first—I am armed."

"Ah, yes, it is in the military codebook that if you are armed, you must so inform your assailant. May I ask with what are you armed?"

"If you knew my weapon, I would be at a complete disadvantage."

"You need not tell me. I have figured it out on my own. You are hiding a canon under your cloak. There, am I right?"

"My goodness, are you the last of your army?" He laughed again and she realized that even nine years later, she still missed his laugh.

"Who are you, my delight? Please give me your name and where I may call on you. I was extremely fearful this would be the dullest fortnight I have had to date. I believe you relieve me of my fear." He bent his head, trying to see her face beneath her hood.

"I am afraid I must go....

Impressed with the Various Inspirational Messages
By E&M
Lady Kathryn "Kate" has disguised herself for the last nine years and is currently working as a companion. Bad choices in her first London season have caused her to be disowned by her father and lose her faith in God.
Lord Dalton, Lady Kathryn's first suitor, learns of her identity and tries to understand why she suddenly disappeared during her London season. The main characters are well developed and I liked the additional cast as well.

There are many themes and inspirational messages throughout the book. Even though the hero and heroine both struggle with forgiveness they each have their own personal struggles. Pride, anger, acceptance and learning to confront difficulties with God instead of running from it are just a few examples of some of the issues the characters confront during the book.

The romance is a little on the light side but I did enjoy the flashbacks from Lady Kathryn's first London season. A short and well written Regency romance. This is a clean romance.

Look forward to Moore's next release!

Sheer Delight!
By Kav
Sheer delight doesn't begin to describe the thrill I felt as I devoured this Regency romance. Moore has an uncanny ability to capture the essence of the period in minute detail. I felt like I'd been dropped into Regency England and I didn't want to get out!

Masterful pacing keeps this read a real page-turner. In fact it is so well done that I often had to pause just for the luxury of imagining my own conclusion to a scene. There's nothing like scene savoring to send this reader into a euphoric tailspin!

Beauty in Disguise is a must read for Regency lovers everywhere!

Mary Moore does it again!
By butterfly21
Kathryn just wants to blend in. As a result of a scandalous mistake she made 9 years ago, beautiful Lady Kathryn disguises herself as Kate Montgomery, the dowdy companion to a spoiled heiress. What she doesn't expect is to meet the man whose heart she broke when she mysteriously disappeared from London 9 years ago. How is she going to keep up this farce when her heart is breaking?
Lord Dalton is a war-weary man who wants nothing more than to get over Lady Kathryn, his first and only love, so that he can marry, have children and get on with his life. When he meets his hosts companion, Kate Montgomery he is intrigued. She reminds him of someone special he used to know. Then he discovers her duplicity and cannot be sure that he can forgive her for breaking his heart again.

Mary Moore once again wrote a novel with well developed relationships, a unique plot line and and emotional characters that readers can relate to. I felt like I really connected to the characters and what they were going through.(SPOILER) Kathryn has a hard time forgiving herself even though God and those close to her have already done that. I just thought that her character was so believeably well written that you could relate to her and the emotions that she's feeling. I also thought that Lord Dalton was written so well too. He's not perfect. He experiences feelings of anger, bitterness, betrayal, pride and finally acceptance, forgiveness, love and humility. I just really enjoyed how their relationship developed and had a satisfactory conclusion.
I especially enjoyed how Christian themes were woven into the story. The message that God loves you and forgives you and can make something beautiful out of your mistakes is such a beautiful gift. Just like this book:)
